National Treasure, who won the Metropolitan Handicap recently, has moved up to be one of the top United States-bred and -raced horses according to the latest Longines World’s Best Racehorse rankings released on June 13. The son of Quality Road dominated the competition at Saratoga Race Course on June 8, winning by a huge margin of 6 1/4 lengths. This victory improves his record to 2-0-0 and earnings of $3,769,000 for the year. With a rating of 121, National Treasure is tied for fourth place along with Senor Buscador.

Senor Buscador had not raced since finishing third in the Dubai World Cup on March 30 at Meydan Racecourse. However, he has recently returned to training at San Luis Rey Training Center in Southern California. The rankings are currently led by Laurel River, an American-bred horse who won the Dubai World Cup and holds a rating of 128. City of Troy, another American-bred horse, made a significant jump in the rankings after winning the Epsom Derby on June 1. He is tied for second place with Rebel’s Romance with a rating of 123.

Cogburn also entered the rankings, tied for ninth with a 120 rating after winning the Jaipur Stakes on June 8 with a record-setting time. The complete rankings can be viewed online.
