In honor of Pride Month, the Philadelphia Gay News is striving to set a new Guinness World Record. On Saturday morning at 9 a.m., the National Constitution Center will host the largest drag story time reading event in history. The event, sponsored by Visit Philadelphia, will feature regional drag performers reading aloud from popular children’s books.

Brittany Lynn, a local drag performer and LGBTQIA+ activist, will emcee the event. Guests, families, and friends are encouraged to register for this unique experience. A judge from Guinness World Records will be present to count the number of attendees and determine if the record has been broken.

The festivities began on Thursday as Pride Month kicked off in Philadelphia with celebrations and activities throughout the city. This year’s pride season promises to be bigger than ever with a 400-foot flag that represents everyone being displayed. The Philadelphia Pride and March Festival will take place on Sunday, June 2, featuring RuPaul’s Drag Race finalist Sapphira Cristal as its first-ever headliner. Additionally, this year’s festival will showcase the largest number of businesses in its history, making it an even more significant celebration for the LGBTQIA+ community in Philadelphia.

Philadelphia’s drag performers and LGBTQIA+ activists are working together to make this event unforgettable. With Brittany Lynn leading the charge as emcee and regional drag performers reading from popular children’s books, this is sure to be a memorable occasion for all who attend.

With Pride Month officially underway in Philadelphia, this unique event adds another exciting element to what promises to be a big pride season for the city’s LGBTQIA+ community.
