The theft of sports equipment during an alumni event at the old Stoneham High School in Massachusetts has put the fall sports seasons of 10 teams at risk. Among the stolen items were football helmets valued at $400 each, field hockey and football jerseys, and practice shorts. Despite rooms being locked, an unlocked back door in the Athletic Training Room allowed access to the stolen equipment.

Superintendent David Ljungberg expressed concerns that without the necessary gear, the sports seasons could be jeopardized. In response, the Stoneham Athletics Department posted a plea for assistance to retrieve the stolen equipment. The department urged perpetrators to return the items promptly, emphasizing the financial strain of replacing them and their impact on upcoming seasons.

Ljungberg stated that law enforcement is working closely with Stoneham authorities to recover the stolen equipment and ensure teams have access to their gear for the upcoming fall season. Anyone with information about the theft is encouraged to contact Stoneham police at 781-438-1215. Neal J.
