OpenAI has recently introduced its new generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) model, GPT-4o, into the free version of the ChatGPT tool. This is alongside the current model, GPT-3.5. GPT-4o is capable of processing text, audio, and image inputs with a response time of 232 milliseconds. The implementation of GPT-4o in ChatGPT is being done iteratively and at no cost for ChatGPT Plus users.

Initially intended for premium subscribers, OpenAI has decided to make GPT-4o available to all users of ChatGPT on the web. This means that users will now have the option to choose between GPT-3.5 and GPT-4o for their text generation needs.

While GPT-3.5 is described as the fastest model, GPT-4o is praised for being smart and fast. Free users of ChatGPT will have access to GPT-4o by default, but with limits on the number of messages they can send. If GPT-4o is not available, users will revert to using GPT-3.5.

The free plan also includes restrictions on advanced features like data analysis, file uploads, and custom GPTs. However, users can upgrade to ChatGPT Plus for unlimited access to these features.

Despite the limitations, this implementation represents a significant advancement in AI technology. Users now have the opportunity to experience the capabilities of this new model and explore its potential for text generation.

Overall, OpenAI’s decision to introduce limited access to GPT-4o in the free version of ChatGPT represents a positive step towards making AI technology more accessible and inclusive for everyone.
