On July 2, 2024, Bally Sports Detroit and the Detroit Tigers confirmed that Craig Monroe has not been appearing on television broadcasts since the team hosted the Milwaukee Brewers from June 7-9. The absence was due to social media allegations made by a woman on Twitter and Instagram. She accused Monroe of raping her when she was a child while he stayed with her family during his time with the Port Charlotte Rangers in the minor leagues.

Monroe, who serves as the primary television analyst alongside play-by-play voice Jason Benetti, has yet to make an official statement regarding the allegations. He is a 47-year-old former baseball player who has been a member of the Tigers broadcast team for several years following his time playing in Detroit from 2003-2007. His MLB career spanned from 2001 to 2009 and included stops in Texas, Chicago (Cubs), Minnesota, and Pittsburgh.

The organizations are aware of the social media allegations and are taking them seriously. They have stated that Monroe will continue to be absent indefinitely until further notice. Any questions were directed to Monroe himself.
