In a major development, the College Football Playoff (CFP) has announced that it will be broadcasting two of its first-round games on TNT Sports starting in 2024. This marks the first time that CFP games will be shown on a network other than ESPN, which has been the exclusive home of the event since it began ten years ago. Under the new agreement, TNT will have exclusive rights to broadcast two first-round games and will add a pair of quarterfinal games in 2026, 2027, and 2028.

This news comes after Warner Bros., Fox, and ESPN launched a new sports streaming platform called Venu Sports. The College Football Playoff is expected to be available on this new app, which is specifically designed for sports programming. The expanded 12-team playoff format begins this season with the top four seeds receiving a bye and first-round matchups being played at campus sites. Two of these games will now be shown on TNT, with the other two airing on an ESPN network.

Quarterfinal games will take place in the Fiesta Bowl, Peach Bowl, Rose Bowl, and Sugar Bowl, while the semifinals will be hosted by the Orange Bowl and Cotton Bowl. The national championship game is set to be played in Atlanta on January 20th. Penn State is currently underway with plans to renovate their stadium in hopes of hosting a College Football Playoff game this season.
