During its regular meeting, the Alabama A&M University (AAMU) Board of Trustees approved the construction of a new science building and a student amenities building. The board also approved a $249,631,874 budget for the university.

The new science building will triple the current academic STEM footprint on campus, while the student amenities building will provide gathering spaces, centralized campus services, food options, and student support facilities. AAMU President Daniel K. Wims expressed gratitude for the board’s commitment to the institution’s success, seeing these recent approvals as a step towards attracting the best faculty and students.

In addition to these decisions, the board of trustees also approved a 2.5 percent cost of living increase for faculty and staff at AAMU. They also relocated the public radio station WJAB to a new location and purchased a property at 3812 John F. Kennedy Circle for future expansion purposes. Furthermore, they established the Ronald & Patricia McCalep-McIntosh Sr. Endowed Chair in Biology to further support research in this field at AAMU. These decisions are viewed as crucial for the institution’s growth and success in higher education.
