In June 2021, Tony Vitello agreed to a five-year contract extension that would see him earn $7.5 million annually before incentives through June 2026. The extension was valued at $7.5 million in total, and it increased his average annual salary to $1.5 million before incentives under the new deal.

Prior to the contract extension, Vitello received a raise in 2019, which increased his average annual salary to $621,000 before incentives under a deal valued at $3.105 million and running through the 2024 season. Initially, Vitello’s contract was for five years with an average annual compensation of $493,000.

As per his contract, Vitello is entitled to a bonus of 40% of his base pay as a bonus for winning the College World Series (CWS). His base pay amounts to $350,000, contributing to an annual salary of $1.5 million. The bonus was earned following the Vols’ victory over Texas A&M in the championship game at Charles Schwab Field.

Notably, Vitello did not receive bonuses for clinching the SEC regular-season title or SEC tournament title despite being eligible for them according to his contract terms. According to the contract, the University of Tennessee must pay Vitello the bonus within 60 days of the championship win.
