In recent years, mental health issues in the workplace have become increasingly common throughout the country. According to data from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, over 76% of workers reported at least one symptom of a mental health condition in 2021. In response to this growing concern, the University of South Florida has launched a new online course called Mental Health & Wellness in the Workplace. The course has already attracted thousands of working professionals from top companies across the nation and around the world, reflecting its popularity and effectiveness.

The collaborative effort between USF’s College of Behavioral and Community Sciences and Tampa Bay Crisis Center aims to educate students on how to navigate mental health challenges in the workplace, build healthy teams, and support employees. Participants will learn to recognize signs of mental and behavioral issues, including trauma and suicide, which are becoming more prevalent. Dean Julie Serovich emphasizes the importance of understanding these issues in order to make a positive impact on individuals and organizations.

The course is free for all participants, reflecting USF’s commitment to making resources accessible during times of crisis. The seven-session course lasts two hours each and is open to anyone interested in enrolling. Those who are interested can find more information about how to sign up for this valuable opportunity that will help them better understand mental health issues in the workplace and how they can support their colleagues during difficult times.
