In May, WNBA player A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces announced her partnership with Nike, putting an end to speculation about why she hadn’t received her own shoe yet despite her impressive track record in the league. The forward is the fourth active WNBA player to sign a shoe deal with Nike, following in the footsteps of Breanna Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu, and Caitlin Clark.

Wilson’s on-court performance has been exceptional, leading the league in both points and rebounds this season with 27.8 points and 11.3 rebounds per game. This historic deal makes Wilson the first Black woman to have a signature shoe since Candace Parker in 2010 and the first Black woman to sign a shoe deal with Nike since Sheryl Swoopes in 2002. Despite the Las Vegas Aces’ 8-6 record this season, Wilson remains a standout player for the team and continues to attract fans to the stands.

Recent wins over top teams like the Seattle Storm and Connecticut Sun have highlighted Wilson’s impact and influence in the league. The Aces have been selling out their home games in record numbers, showcasing the popularity and excitement surrounding Wilson’s dynamic play on the court. In addition to her impressive performance on the court, Wilson is also known for her philanthropic work off it
