The Italian government has launched a new initiative to boost funding for research and development projects in the country’s aerospace sector. Led by Minister Adolfo Urso, the initiative aims to strengthen the national aerospace industry and position Italy as a leader in the aerospace and defense sector.

The Directorial Decree outlines the objectives of the financing provided for projects in the aerospace sector, emphasizing the importance of technological development for defense and security purposes. The decree highlights key points that will be addressed through funding, including increasing rapid response capabilities in emergency situations, protecting critical infrastructure, and fostering collaboration between public and private sectors.

Companies within the aerospace sector can apply for funding from July 1st to October 31st, 2024, to support the development of technologies with a direct impact on national security. Eligibility criteria, eligible expenses, and proposal submission process have been detailed in the decree to ensure transparency and fairness in the selection process.

This initiative aims to promote innovation and technology in the aerospace field while reducing reliance on foreign technologies. It also aims to establish a strong national industrial base for independent and innovative solutions that can improve surveillance, communication, and intervention systems. Ultimately, this initiative will stimulate competitiveness of Italian companies while enhancing their ability to develop advanced technologies that support national security goals.
