On Tuesday, Saudi Trade Minister Majid Al-Qasabi and his delegation met with Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani in Baghdad to discuss bilateral relations and ways to enhance cooperation. The media office of the Iraqi Prime Minister stated that the meeting included discussions on coordinating the sixth session of the Iraqi-Saudi Coordination Council, implementing outcomes from previous sessions, and completing the electrical connection between the two countries.

During the meeting, Al-Sudani praised Saudi Arabia’s efforts in organizing the Hajj ceremonies and providing services to Iraqi pilgrims. He emphasized the importance of reconsidering Iraq’s share based on population statistics. Al-Qasabi conveyed greetings from Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud to the Iraqi Prime Minister. He expressed his government’s desire to expand cooperation in various fields to strengthen relations between Baghdad and Riyadh.

The discussions also touched on expanding cooperation in various fields to benefit both countries’ peoples. Al-Qasabi reiterated Saudi Arabia’s commitment to constructive cooperation with Iraq. The meeting highlighted the need for ongoing collaboration and coordination between the two countries to achieve mutual goals and interests.

Al-Sudani emphasized that deepening relations between Iraq and Saudi Arabia will lead to positive changes for both nations’ people, as well as regional stability.

“We believe that our shared values can help us build a stronger relationship,” said al-Sudani.

Al-Qasabi agreed, adding that he was confident that this meeting would pave the way for increased cooperation in various sectors such as trade, investment, tourism, education, healthcare, technology and energy.

“We are committed to building strong partnerships with our neighbors,” said al-Qasabi.
