Boones Mill, a small town in Franklin County, is determined to grow and develop its area. Project leaders are concentrating on enhancing the facades, sidewalks, and parking lots in downtown Boones Mill in order to fill empty buildings and attract more visitors. According to Boones Mill Town Manager BT Fitzpatrick, the town’s ultimate goal is to become a destination where people can spend their money and discover what the town has to offer.

One of the newer businesses in the region, Boones Mill Mercantile, opened six months ago and has already shown potential for growth. Co-owner Mike Meredith stated that while there is already enough business in the town, there are still gaps that need to be filled in order to fully utilize the area’s potential. The town is seeking funding from the governor for over $860,000 worth of facade upgrades and additional improvements.

Fitzpatrick explained that phase one of the revitalization efforts will involve pedestrian improvements such as new sidewalks and defined parking spaces along Main Street. The town is optimistic about the project and its potential impact on Boones Mill. Meredith expressed excitement about the upgrades and expressed hope for positive outcomes once everything is completed.

The town expects to find out if they have been awarded the grant money around Christmas time, signaling possible progress and development for Boones Mill. With a focus on growth and improvements, Boones Mill is hopeful for a brighter future and a more vibrant downtown area for residents and visitors to enjoy.
