After over 50 years in business, Bob’s Stores, a discount retail chain, has announced the closure of all its stores, including the six locations in Massachusetts. The company president, Dave Barton, cited financial struggles as the reason for the decision to liquidate the physical stores. In a statement, Barton expressed gratitude to the local communities, customers, employees, vendors and suppliers for their support over the years.

The closure marks the end of nearly 70 years of service to the communities. A going-out-of-business sale began on June 28, offering discounts of 30% to 70% off on items such as workwear, footwear, team wear, casual clothing and certain furniture and equipment products. Customers can use store credit and Bob’s Stores gift cards until the last day of operation but returns will not be accepted at the closing stores.

The Massachusetts locations that are closing include Attleboro, Fitchburg Holyoke Middleton Randolph and Westborough. Bob’s Stores was founded in 1954 by Bob Lapidus who passed away in 2007 at the age of 78. For more information contact Rin Velasco
