In a bid to maintain a sophisticated and upscale atmosphere, Bliss Caribbean Restaurant in St. Louis County, Missouri has implemented an age policy that excludes anyone under the age of 30. The restaurant, which opened in May, announced the policy on social media, stating that it was necessary to ensure a “grown and sexy atmosphere” for their clientele.

The policy sparked mixed reactions on social media, prompting the staff to discuss their reasoning with a local news outlet. According to assistant manager Erica Rhodes, the restaurant aims to provide a mature and relaxed experience for older customers without the drama typically associated with younger crowds. Rhodes encouraged younger individuals to patronize the restaurant once they reach the age requirement.

Co-owner Marvin Pate stood by the decision, acknowledging that while there have been criticisms, the majority of the response has been positive. In a Facebook post, Bliss Caribbean Restaurant expressed gratitude for the support from those who appreciate the sophisticated and safe environment they have created.

The restaurant did not respond to a request for comment from Business Insider regarding their age policy. Bliss Caribbean Restaurant maintains that their focus is on providing an upscale dining experience for an older demographic and is committed to upholding their standards and unique ambiance.
