In a surprising turn of events, the ongoing feud between Chicago Sky guard Caitlin Clark and former number one pick Chennedy Carter escalated on Saturday during their matchup against the Indiana Fever. A blindside shoulder shot by Carter to Clark during the game caused tension between the two players. On Sunday, Carter responded to criticism about her refusal to answer questions about the incident by taking a jab at Clark, questioning what else she brings to the table besides her three-point shooting skills.

Clark, who has been averaging solid numbers across multiple categories throughout the season as the number one overall pick, recorded 11 points, eight rebounds, and six assists in the Fever’s 71-70 victory over the Sky on Saturday. Meanwhile, Carter, who was once a number four overall pick and is now on her third team in three years, has been putting up decent stats coming off the bench for the Sky.

The WNBA has upgraded Carter’s foul on Clark to a Flagrant 1, indicating that it considers it a severe incident. Additionally, Sky rookie Angel Reese was fined $1,000 for not participating in an interview after the game, and the Chicago team was fined $5,000 for failing to ensure compliance with league media policies.

During her postgame press conference on Sunday, Carter made it clear that she would not be answering any questions about Caitlin Clark. However, Clark expressed her resilience in dealing with hard shots during games and said that she would continue to focus on improving her performance rather than getting caught up in negative comments from others. The next meeting between these two teams is scheduled for Sunday June 16th in Indiana.
