Binghamton University graduate engineering programs have performed exceptionally well in the 2025 U.S. News & World Report rankings, with some programs achieving significant improvements from their previous rankings. The Thomas J. Watson College of Engineering and Applied Science has moved up one spot to tie at #111 overall, while biomedical engineering is ranked at #69, materials engineering at #75, and mechanical engineering at #86, all showing improvements from their previous rankings.

In addition to the engineering programs, the computer science program also saw an improvement in its ranking, jumping from #105 to #96. President Harvey Stenger expressed pride and excitement about the high rankings and improvements in scores for the graduate programs. He commended the faculty and staff of the college for their dedication to providing students with a top-notch education and preparing them for successful careers.

Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Donald Hall highlighted the longstanding tradition of excellence at the Watson College. He praised the faculty and students for their passion for engineering, teaching, and learning, which have contributed to the success and quality of education at the college. Incoming Dean Atul Kelkar expressed his excitement about joining the Watson team later in the summer and recognized the exceptional scholarship and dedication of the faculty and staff that contribute to the excellent education students receive.
