In the third quarter, the Bills offense has been able to find success with their field goals and finally managed to score a touchdown. With 6:29 left in the period, Josh Allen connected with Khalil Shakir for his third touchdown pass of the day, extending the Bills’ lead over the Jets. On this play, Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner attempted to intercept the ball but missed, allowing Shakir to break through for an impressive 81-yard touchdown. This marked the longest play from scrimmage in the NFL season so far.
Prior to this touchdown, Allen also scored on the first drive of the second half by connecting with running back Ty Johnson. In his first game under interim offensive coordinator Joe Brady calling the plays, Allen has completed 19 out of 29 passes for 273 yards.
After Jets’ punt on their first possession of third quarter, it seems that they are struggling to find their offensive prowess and are yet to attempt a shot on target after two quarters.
