The Minneapolis-based party supply and paper warehouse, Litin’s Party Value, has announced that it will be closing its doors this summer due to the impact of the pandemic and changes in consumer shopping habits. Owner Ned Litin explained that the business faced challenges from the pandemic disrupting social gatherings and events, as well as changes in how consumers shop, making it difficult to stay competitive in the market dominated by corporate retail giants.

Established by Ned Litin’s father, Don, as the Litin Paper Company in 1947, the company initially focused on wholesale paper distribution before expanding to include party supplies, office supplies, and shipping and packaging products. In 1966, the business opened its doors to the public in downtown Minneapolis and has been in operation in various locations over the years.

The second-generation family-owned business moved to its current location at 913 Plymouth Ave. North in 2018, catering to a diverse customer base that included non-profits, churches, schools, caterers, and small businesses. The store was known for offering a convenient one-stop shopping experience for all types of celebrations and special occasions, serving customers from across the region.

As Litin’s Party Value prepares to close its doors on July 31st , community members will say goodbye to a beloved local business that has been a staple in Minneapolis for over seven decades.
