Sotheby’s auction house has announced that the six jerseys worn by Lionel Messi (36) at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar will be sold at auction in December. The company estimates the value of this “priceless” collection to be more than $10 million.

Messi wore these stripes during various matches including against Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Australia, the Netherlands and Croatia. Unfortunately, he was missing from the final match against France. The jerseys will be sold online from November 30 to December 14 and will also be displayed at Sotheby’s headquarters in New York.

This makes it “the most valuable collection of sports memorabilia ever sold at auction,” with proceeds from the sale going towards the UNICAS project, which is run by the Children’s Hospital Sant Joan de Déu (SJD) in Barcelona with support from the Leo Messi Foundation. This initiative aims to respond to the needs of children suffering from rare diseases.
