The highly-anticipated sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, is set to make its world premiere at the 81st Venice International Film Festival. Michael Keaton will reprise his iconic role as Beetlejuice in the follow-up to the 1988 comedy-horror hit.

Joining Keaton in the cast are Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, Justin Theroux, Monica Bellucci, Jenna Ortega, and Willem Dafoe. Directed by Tim Burton, the film is a long-awaited return of an iconic character in Burton’s cinema.

Venice artistic director Alberto Barbera expressed his excitement about the premiere, calling it a creative and imaginative work that showcases Burton’s visionary talent and masterful storytelling. The festival’s honor in hosting such a unique and innovative film adds to its prestige.

Burton himself shared his excitement about debuting the film at the Venice Film Festival. He stated that it means a lot to him to debut this project at such a renowned event. Warner Bros., which has had success in Venice before with films like Joker and Dune premiering there and going on to become box office hits and awards season favorites, will release Beetlejuice Beetlejuice on September 6 in North America and internationally on September 4.

The 81st Venice Film Festival will run from August 28 to September 7, featuring a diverse lineup of international films and premieres that showcase creativity and innovation in cinema.
