In the latest episode of BBC Radio Manchester’s We’re Not Really Here podcast, the ongoing legal battles between Manchester City and the Premier League are the focus. The podcast delves into the details of these battles, which have been ongoing since February 2023.

During this time, City faced a staggering 115 breaches of Premier League regulations. However, the club strongly denies these allegations. Despite this, there have been ongoing discussions between City and the Premier League regarding the legality of their associated party transaction (APT) rules, which determine sponsorship deals.

Football finance expert Kieran Maguire and lawyer Stefan Borson, who was previously a financial adviser to City, discussed the possibility of a settlement before the 115 charges are heard. Maguire pointed out that a settlement could save money for both parties but may not be well-received by the media and other clubs. Borson mentioned that while there are ways a settlement could occur within the Premier League rules, it is unlikely at this stage when the hearing is so close.
