Co-founder Mike Kennedy highlighted the financial challenges faced by schools in providing necessary athletic equipment due to limited funding. The organization aims to stock its warehouse with both new and gently used sports equipment, clothing, and shoes for children at the middle school and elementary school levels.

Beyond Sports NC is specifically looking for donations of sports equipment for sports commonly played in middle and elementary schools, such as soccer, basketball, and football, as well as shoes. The costs of sports participation can add up, including expenses for registration, equipment, camps, and travel.
According to data collected by playgroundequipment.com, the average cost to play basketball is $427, while the cost for lacrosse can go up to $1,000.
