Peter Cat Recording Co. is thrilled to announce the release of their highly anticipated album, “Beta,” on August 9 through Muddy Water. The first single from the album will be out on May 16, and the band will kick off a headlining tour starting in August. Prior to their headlining dates, Peter Cat will join Khruangbin on tour before embarking on their own U.S., U.K., and Europe tour, followed by dates in India.

The band has shared a teaser of the album on Instagram, featuring a video of elephants enjoying an edible arrangement with the album title spelled out in watermelon slices. According to Peter Cat, “Beta” is a collection of stories about the future told as if it were 50 years in the past, to make sense of the present world we live in. This upcoming album is their first release since 2019’s “Bismillah.”

The title “Beta” was chosen by drummer Karan Singh’s six-month-old son after they came up with a list of five potential album names. The word “Beta” means “child” in Hindi and serves as a reminder that this music represents something new and exciting for both the band and their fans alike. Produced by Suryakant Sawhney, Kartik Pillai, and Dhruv Bhola, “Beta” promises to be a blend of indie, bossa nova, jazz, psychedelic, and more genres. Peter Cat Recording Co.’s music captures a sense of grime and honesty that draws from older generations of crooner singers while also incorporating modern influences.

Sawhney shared in an interview with Variety in April 2023 that the style of singing in crooner music is emotionally powerful and has a masculine appeal. The band’s music captures this style while also infusing it with modern elements such as indie rock and psychedelic elements.

Don’t miss out on Peter Cat Recording Co.’s upcoming tour! Tickets for their headlining shows will go on sale on May 16 at 10 a.m. local time.

In conclusion, Peter Cat Recording Co.’s upcoming album “Beta” promises to be an exciting journey through time while also incorporating modern influences into classic crooner music styles. With its unique blend of genres and emotional depth
