Cincinnati Bengals initially drafted Dax Hill with the aim of grooming him to potentially replace Jessie Bates at safety. However, after starting 17 games at safety last season, the team has decided to shift Hill to the outside corner position. This change marks a significant transition for Hill, but he has expressed confidence in his ability to adapt to the new role.

In an interview, Hill shared his thoughts on the position change, stating, “It’s been good. I feel like obviously it was a transition, one I’m going to have to make but I feel comfortable. I trust the coaches. They’ve been preparing me well.” Although offseason activities are limited due to OTAs, Hill acknowledged that the coaching staff has been working diligently to get him ready for his new role.

The Bengals acquired Mike Hilton in the offseason to fill the slot corner position that Hill played during his college career at Michigan. As a result, Hill finds himself in a position battle for a less familiar role at outside corner. He emphasized the need to start from scratch and take each day as it comes, acknowledging the challenges of the new position.

Despite playing every defensive snap in the previous season and being a key contributor to the Bengals’ defense, recording impressive stats including 110 total tackles, 11 passes defensed, two interceptions, and 1.5 sacks; as he continues to adjust to his new role at outside corner, Hill remains optimistic and focused on refining his techniques for the upcoming season.
