The Sette Colli Trophy began with a bang as Benedetta Pilato set an Italian record in the 100 breaststroke by clocking a personal-best time of 1:05.44. This time is the 5th fastest in the world this season. Pilato, who is just 19 years old and a world champion, bettered her previous record of 1:05.70 set at the 2022 Italian Championships.
The women’s 100 breast final showcased some impressive performances with strong showings from various athletes. In addition to Pilato, Angharad Evans achieved the second sub-1:06 swim of her career with a personal-best time of 1:05.91. Martina Carraro placed third with a time of 1:06.43, while Tes Schouten finished fourth with a time of 1:06.65. Schouten, who won silver in the 100 breast at the 2024 World Championships, ranks ninth in the world this season with her season-best time of
