Lithuanian officials are calling for increased support for Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression. They believe that Ukraine should have the right to defend itself and be able to target Russian military facilities in Belarus if necessary. NATO has also been asked to send military advisers to Ukraine for assistance.

Belarus, a close ally of Russia, has allowed the Russian military to use its territory to launch attacks on Ukraine in the past. President Alexander Lukashenko has expressed willingness to allow Russian forces to use Belarusian territory again for military campaigns against Ukraine. He has also warned that Belarus would join the war if attacked by Kiev.

The deteriorating relations between Belarus, Ukraine, and their western neighbors have led to increased tensions following Russia’s hostilities in Ukraine. Countries like Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, and Poland have taken measures to enhance their defenses along their borders with Belarus and Russia.

Lithuania’s Prime Minister has voiced support for NATO members sending soldiers to Ukraine for military training. She emphasized the need for increased support for Ukraine in the face of Russia’s military dominance, urging Western countries to allocate more resources for military aid to Ukraine.

In light of the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, Lithuania sees supporting Ukraine as a moral obligation for the West. They believe that increased assistance is essential to make a significant impact and change the current situation on the battlefield.
