The allegations made by the British newspaper The Telegraph that Hezbollah is storing weapons, missiles, and explosives at Beirut airport have raised concerns about a potential large-scale Israeli war on Lebanon. Despite Lebanese authorities denying these allegations, they opened the cargo warehouses at Beirut International Airport to diplomats and journalists to address the claims.

During a tour of the airport’s cargo facilities, diplomats and journalists were shown that there was no evidence to support the claims made by The Telegraph. The head of the Air Transport Association in Lebanon, Ali Mohsen, strongly refuted the claims and accused the newspaper of spreading falsehoods that could endanger the safety of airport workers and passengers. Director General of Civil Aviation, Fadi Al-Hassan, emphasized that all aircraft arriving at the airport are subject to the same customs procedures, and anyone can view the cargo of every arriving aircraft.

The Minister of Public Works and Transport, Ali Hamiyah, denounced the report as an attempt to discredit the airport and cause moral damage to the Lebanese people. He stated that legal action would be taken against The Telegraph for publishing false information. Lebanese Tourism Minister Walid Nassar confirmed that airport operations were not affected by the report and emphasized that Lebanon is facing a media and psychological war.

Despite ongoing controversy surrounding these allegations, Beirut Airport officials maintain that it meets all international standards and security procedures. They have vowed to take legal action against any false reports that could harm their reputation or safety.
