In the second episode of Season 3 of The Bear, it is revealed that Sydney will not be an official partner in the restaurant she is developing with Carmy. Despite assumptions from last season, Sydney will not be forgoing six months of her salary for nothing. Carmy mentions to Sydney that she will need to sign some paperwork to make her partnership official, which surprises Sydney.
Ayo Edebiri, who plays Sydney, explains that Sydney is unsure of what to believe, as Carmy’s communication style is not always straightforward. As the series progresses and Sydney continues to try and decode Carmy’s actions and their meaning, it becomes clear that this will be a central part of her journey throughout the season.
In Episode 6, Edebiri steps into the director’s chair and was moved by the writing in the script. She felt touched by being chosen to direct the episode and expressed her emotions through tears while reading it for the first time. All episodes of The Bear Season 3 are now streaming on Hulu.
