In November 11th, the Hannahville Ice and Turf sports complex in Wells hosted Bayside Soccer’s inaugural soccer tournament. The tournament featured three divisions of play for 12U, 14U, and 16U, with teams from Iron Mountain’s 906 FC, Houghton FC, and Bayside Soccer and its affiliate Delta United Soccer Academy participating.

The goal of the tournament was to provide a fun and competitive event for players while raising funds for the high school team. Organizer Amy Blahnik expressed her excitement about hosting the tournament and looking forward to organizing more in the spring and next fall.

The games were played in a round-robin style, with three-on-three matches. The top two teams at the end of group play had a playoff for first place. The results were as follows: 906 FC won the 12U group, Houghton FC Red won the 14U group, and the 16U winners were from Bayside – Delta United Soccer Academy.

Bayside Soccer was established in 1996 to provide recreational soccer for families in the region. Their programs include summer recreation soccer and a High School Club program that competes regionally. Bayside focuses on player development, teamwork, and positive coaching to create a great sports experience for families.

Delta United Soccer Academy operates under the Bayside Soccer umbrella and has both fall and winter/spring seasons with almost 60 players aged ten years old or older. They compete with other clubs in the UP region and attend tournaments in Wisconsin to provide high-quality training for players interested in improving their skills at soccer.
