Baylor recently hosted its eighth annual Science and Engineering Symposium, featuring over 70 posters showcasing college-level studies. The event attracted students from various departments, including Molecular Biology and Development Genetics Lab, Engineering Research Lab, Environmental Lab, and Sustainability Research Lab.

The projects displayed included a range of topics such as gene expression and behavioral assays of the model organism C. elegans, host-symbiont interactions in the environment, embedded systems for robotics, sustainable practices on campus, and applications of machine learning across various science and engineering disciplines. In addition to college-level work, projects completed by Middle School science classes and extra-curricular programs were also on display.

Science Department Chair Jesse Young was impressed with the enthusiasm of the young scientists who presented their research at the symposium. Many students had been investigating their topics for three years and had produced results that were on par with university-level research. Among the students presenting at the Science and Engineering Symposium were David Wang, Emily Beardsley, Jack Champion, and Edie Henderson. These students were just a few of the many participants who shared their research and findings with the Baylor community.
