After rejections from other candidates, Bayern Munich has announced the appointment of Vincent Kompany as their new coach. Kompany, who is currently the manager of Burnley, has agreed to a deal until 2027, with Bayern paying £10.2m in compensation to Burnley for his services. Despite Burnley’s assistant manager Craig Bellamy not joining Kompany at Bayern, Floribert Ngalula and Bram Geers will be part of his backroom staff.

Kompany, who speaks German due to his time at Hamburg, has gained a positive reputation as a manager during his tenure at Anderlecht and Burnley. As a four-time Premier League winner with Manchester City, Kompany led Burnley to the Championship title in 2023 but was unable to prevent their relegation from the Premier League this season. Kompany is excited about the opportunity to join Bayern and lead one of Germany’s biggest clubs. He believes that he can bring his experience and expertise to the team and help them achieve success on the field.
