Dave Portnoy, the founder of Barstool Sports, may have just lost his streak in the sports betting world. On Monday, he placed $70,000 on the Edmonton Oilers to win the Stanley Cup at +150 for a potential profit of $105,000. Unfortunately for him, the Oilers lost Game 7 and he ended up losing $70,000.

Despite this loss, Portnoy wasn’t deterred from continuing his love for sports betting. On Tuesday, he placed a massive wager of $200,000 on the Philadelphia Phillies to win the 2024 World Series at +65 for a potential profit of $1.3 million. This bet came just one day after his loss with the Oilers and could be seen as a way to get back into action quickly.

Portnoy’s gambling streak has been nothing short of spectacular so far this year. In January, he won $1.5 million on Michigan to win the NCAA Tournament and followed that up with a winning wager on Kansas City Chiefs beating San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl in February for another $500, 00 . In April, Portnoy had an incredible week where he won $2.1 million on UConn’s national championship and banked $1.35 million on Scottie Scheffler’s Masters victory. He also made another profit when Celtics won NBA Championship in May earning him another $1.6 million .

However, Portnoy may have jinxed himself a bit in early June when he called for championship wins for the Celtics and Oilers before either series started. “Guys I hate to be that guy but I have the Celtics for 1.1 million and the Oilers for another million,” Portnoy said on X.”If both those teams win I will be up 7
