English right-back Lucy Bronze is set to join Chelsea on a two-year contract after leaving Women’s Champions League holders Barcelona. At 32 years old, Bronze had a successful two-year spell at Barcelona, winning two league titles and retaining the Women’s Champions League crown. Despite interest from clubs in the NWSL and Paris Saint-Germain, sources have confirmed that Bronze will return to the Women’s Super League with Chelsea.

Prior to her time at Barcelona, Bronze had played for Manchester City and various other clubs. Chelsea’s interest in Bronze comes as they prepare for a new era under manager Sonia Bompastor, who has replaced Emma Hayes. Hayes had a successful tenure at Chelsea, winning numerous titles during her 12-year stint as manager.

In addition to signing Bronze, Chelsea has also signed 20-year-old Julia Bartel and has been linked with French players Sandy Baltimore and Oriane Jean-Francois as they look to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.
