Barbra Streisand is facing criticism for a comment she made on a photo posted by Melissa McCarthy on Instagram. In the comments section, Streisand asked McCarthy if she took Ozempic, a weight loss medication, sparking backlash online. Later, Streisand explained that she meant the comment as a compliment and did not realize its impact.

The photo in question showed McCarthy with director Adam Shankman at an event they attended together. Streisand’s comment about Ozempic led to a discussion among users, with many defending McCarthy. Ozempic, originally developed to treat diabetes, has gained popularity for its weight loss effects.

Streisand has since deleted the comment and issued a statement on social media clarifying her intentions. However, representatives for both McCarthy and Streisand have not responded to requests for comment. Ozempic is a brand name for semaglutide and is approved by the FDA to treat diabetes but is also used for weight loss. The drug can cause common side effects such as headaches and gastrointestinal issues.
