In a nail-biting encounter, Bangladesh emerged victorious over Nepal by 21 runs to secure a spot in the Super 8s of the T20 World Cup 2024. The outstanding bowling performance from Tanzim Hasan, Mustafizur Rahman, and Shakib Al Hasan was the highlight of the game, as they picked up crucial wickets to defend a low total of 106 runs. This win marked Bangladesh as the final team to qualify for Group 1, alongside India, Australia, and Afghanistan.

Nepal’s Sompal Kami led a disciplined bowling attack that restricted Bangladesh to their lowest-ever total of 106 in T20 World Cup history. Despite falling wickets at regular intervals, Sandeep Lamichhane reached a milestone of 100 wickets in T20Is. Nepal’s Dipendra Singh Airee, Rohit Paudel and Sandeep Lamichhane each contributed with two wickets to restrict Bangladesh’s scoring.

In response, Nepal struggled to build partnerships and were quickly reduced to 26 for 5 before Dipendra Singh Airee and Kushal Malla staged a 57-run partnership to keep their hopes alive. However, the lower order collapsed, and Nepal fell short of their target by just six runs, finishing at 85 all out in 19.2 overs.

With this victory, Bangladesh advanced to the Super 8 stage where they will face tough competition in Group 1. The tournament promises more exciting matches as the top teams battle for the T20 World Cup title.
