Despite some reckless shots and poor running between the wickets, late contributions from Taskin Ahmed and Rishad Hossain helped Bangladesh reach a total over 100. Defending the lowest total in men’s T20 World Cup history, Bangladesh’s bowlers took advantage of the pitch conditions to restrict Nepal’s chase.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka registered their first win of the tournament by defeating the Netherlands by 83 runs. Sri Lanka posted a total of 201-6, with Kusal Mendis and Charith Asalanka both scoring 46 runs. The Dutch team struggled in their reply, getting bowled out for 118 runs, with Nuwan Thushara taking 3-24. The result ended the Netherlands’ chances of qualifying for the next round.
