As the chairman of the National Selection Panel for BCB, Gazi Ashraf Hossain explained that the decision regarding Saifuddin’s inclusion in the squad was postponed until the upcoming Zimbabwe series. Initially, Saifuddin was selected to be part of the squad submitted to the ICC on April 30, but ultimately Tanzim Hasan Sakib was chosen over him based on current team needs and his impressive display against Sri Lanka. Although a difficult choice, the panel believed that Tanzim’s dedication, hunger, and fielding abilities made him a valuable asset to the team.

In terms of Taskin Ahmed’s injury concerns, Hossain stated that he would be included in the squad despite these concerns. The medical team has assured that he will be fit at some point during the T20 World Cup. If a replacement is needed following ICC policy, it can be arranged at a later time. However, Hossain noted that Taskin may not be able to play in the upcoming series against the USA this month.

Looking ahead to the tournament, Hossain expressed hope that Bangladesh would progress beyond the first round and continue on its journey towards success. While acknowledging concerns about batting form, he emphasized hard work as necessary to overcome these challenges. The team’s goal is for its batters to perform at their best and achieve success in this year’s tournament.
