29-year-old Rose Lavelle, a former Wisconsin Badgers women’s soccer star, has been named to the U.S. Olympic Women’s Soccer team for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France. Lavelle played for Wisconsin from 2013-2016 and quickly made a name for herself, winning the Big Ten Freshman of the Year award in her first season. She was also selected for an All-America team in each of her final three seasons.

Lavelle played in all six games during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, which were delayed to July 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. During those games, she scored a goal in the bronze medal match against Australia. In the NWSL season with Gotham FC this year, Lavelle has scored three goals in ten games so far. Over her seven seasons in NWSL, she has a total of twelve goals.

The US Women’s soccer team is determined to win their first gold medal since 2012 after finishing third place in 2021 and losing in the quarterfinals in 2016.
