The Bad Axe Chamber of Commerce is redoubling its efforts to rebuild its presence and engage with the community through events like the Fall Frenzy. With over 150 members and businesses in the city, the Chamber has seen significant growth in recent years.

Chamber President Kaitlyn Fay is focused on providing opportunities for businesses in Bad Axe to grow and learn. One of the Chamber’s goals is to increase community event involvement and offer resources for business owners. Fay expressed excitement about organizing seminars to benefit local businesses, and the Chamber has been working with the SBDC to gather resources and make these seminars possible. Connecting with the SBDC has been instrumental in bringing these educational opportunities to Bad Axe.

The first seminar will focus on strategies to increase foot traffic to small businesses, taking place from 8:45 to 10 a.m. The second seminar, discussing hiring and retaining talent, will follow from 10:15 to 11 a.m. All business owners are invited to attend, regardless of Chamber membership status. Feedback from members revealed that hiring and retention of staff was a significant challenge for many businesses.

These seminars are just the beginning of the Chamber’s efforts to provide educational opportunities to local businesses. While a date has not been finalized, more seminars are expected to take place in June. The upcoming seminars will be held at the Huron County Senior Center on Tuesday, May 21, located at 150 Nugent Road in Bad Axe.
