Aidan Tran has stepped in to take Christo Lamprecht’s place in the lineup for the Georgia Tech men’s golf team at the Yellowjacket Classic on Saturday morning. Lamprecht, a senior at Georgia Tech and the top-ranked amateur in the world, had to withdraw from the tournament due to a back injury. Despite opening with a 2-under 70 on Friday at Omni La Costa’s North Course, Lamprecht experienced back soreness that prevented him from playing through it before his scheduled tee time.

With Lamprecht out of the tournament, his chances of winning the individual title and earning a PGA Tour card have come to an end. He was ranked No. 2 in the PGA Tour University rankings behind Michael Thorbjornsen of Stanford and could have potentially secured the PGA Tour card with a win. However, now that Lamprecht has been replaced in the lineup, Thorbjornsen will receive the card.

Instead, Lamprecht will earn last-place points for the event, securing full status on the Korn Ferry Tour but missing out on the chance for guaranteed job status on the PGA Tour.
