Australia has announced its 15-member squad for the men’s T20 World Cup 2024, which will be held in the West Indies and USA in June. Mitchell Marsh, who led the team in T20 matches last year and was officially appointed as skipper by the selection committee headed by George Bailey, will captain the side.

In pursuit of a second T20 World Cup title, Australia will be missing star batter Steve Smith, who has been omitted from the squad for the first time in ten years. Smith’s form had been lacking, playing just one game in the 2022 T20 World Cup and struggling in subsequent T20 series against India and New Zealand. Young talent James Fraser-McGurk, known for his powerful six-hitting skills, also missed out on selection.

Despite not having played international cricket for nearly 18 months, Ashton Agar and Cameron Green were included in Australia’s squad. Nathan Ellis will serve as the fourth fast bowling option alongside Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and Mitchell Starc. Wicket-keepers Josh Inglis and Matthew Wade were both named in the squad.

The full squad includes Mitchell Marsh (c), Ashton Agar, Pat Cummins, Tim David, Nathan Ellis, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis (wk), Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, Matthew Wade (wk), David Warner
