Australian rowers are set to compete in the World Rowing Final Olympic Qualification Regatta in Lucerne, Switzerland, starting on Sunday. The team’s goal is to secure four quotas for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Each Olympic boat class has two quota places up for grabs, with the exception of men’s and women’s single sculls, which have an additional third quota place due to reallocation. Australia has secured quotas in most events except for men’s lightweight double sculls.

Leading Australia in the men’s quadruple sculls are Jack Cleary and Caleb Antill, who were part of the bronze medal-winning Australian team at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. They will be joined by Campbell Watts and Alexander Rossi. In women’s lightweight double sculls, Anneka Reardon and Georgia Miansarow will represent Australia.

David Bartholot and Marcus Della Marta will compete in men’s double sculls, with Bartholot having won a bronze medal at the 2022 World Championship. Oscar McGuinness will represent Australia in men’s singles scull after reaching the A Final in men’s double scull at first World Cup last month.

The competition is fierce as there are 147 boats across 14 Olympic boat classes competing for 30 quota places. The final Olympic qualifying event for rowing will end on May 21st, and National Olympic Committees will have the final say on athlete representation for Paris 2024 Games.

Australian rowers have been training hard to secure their spots at this prestigious event, and they are determined to make their country proud by securing those valuable quotas for Paris 2024 Olympics.
