Adrian Paoletti is determined to secure a spot for Australia in the men’s 92kg weight division at the second and final World Boxing Qualification Tournament in Bangkok, Thailand. The tournament will offer Olympic quotas in all 13 weight categories, with each country limited to one quota per category for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Australia had previously obtained 12 quotas in boxing for the Paris Olympics through the Pacific Games in Honiara last year. A 12-member Australian boxing team was officially confirmed for the Paris Olympics by the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) in March. The National Olympic Committees have the authority to select athletes to represent their countries at the Games.

Despite competing in the first World Boxing Qualification Tournament in Italy, Adrian Paoletti was unable to secure a quota. However, he has been training hard in Thailand with national coach Marcos Amado leading up to this qualifiers event. This opportunity marks his last chance to qualify for the Paris Olympics as the qualification period ends on May 31st.

Twelve Australian boxers have already been selected for the Olympics, marking their country’s largest-ever boxing team at the Summer Games. The Bangkok tournament will offer 51 Olympic quotas, with four up for grabs in the men’s 92kg division. With this final opportunity, Australia aims to add more medals to its collection and cement its position as a dominant force in world boxing stage.
