Austin FC supporters were seen energetically waving flags in the second half against the Portland Timbers at Q2 Stadium in Austin, Texas on May 29, 2024. The team wasted no time in securing a new designated player, as they announced the signing of left-side winger Osman Bukari from Red Star Belgrade in Serbia.

Having previously played in top leagues in Slovakia, Belgium, and France, Bukari’s experience in the UEFA Champions League with Red Star Belgrade makes him a valuable addition to Austin FC. The 25-year-old’s contract runs through 2027 with a club option for 2028. He will only be able to train with the team until the MLS transfer window opens on July 18, with his first eligible game to play in being on July 20 against Charlotte at Q2 Stadium.

Bukari’s arrival fills the designated player spot left vacant after Austin FC waived and eventually bought out Emiliano Rigoni. The addition of this talented winger brings excitement to both the team and fans, as they look forward to seeing him on the field in upcoming games. The signing of Bukari signals the club’s commitment to strengthening their roster and competing at a high level in MLS.
