Montgomery Connects’ program director, Mitsuko Herrera, described the Oakley Cabin African American Museum and Park in Olney as something groundbreaking. Starting in June, visitors will experience something new at the historic site as it begins using augmented reality (AR) to enhance the visitor experience. Gail M. Roper, the TEBS Department Director and Montgomery County CIO, expressed enthusiasm about integrating AR technology into the community space. She had seen its impact in other cities and believed Montgomery County would be an ideal place to host AR historical experiences.

This innovative approach aims to modernize the historical site and provide visitors with a unique and engaging experience. The Oakley Cabin has been a part of the community since the 1800s and is now set to undergo a transformation thanks to this exciting development.
