Auburn football has been working diligently on the recruiting trail during the summer offseason. Despite their efforts, they missed out on a significant target when four-star EDGE Herbert Scroggins committed to the Miami Hurricanes after a recent visit to the Plains. Scroggins had previously been favored to sign with the Tigers by On3 and 247Sports, but a visit to Miami last weekend swayed his decision.

Despite missing out on Scroggins’ commitment, Auburn still has high hopes for this recruiting cycle. They currently rank No. 10 nationally and No. 6 in the SEC, with aspirations to improve their standing as the fall football season progresses. However, they face competition from other schools for mutual prospects and must bounce back after recent decommitments.

Scroggins, a product of Savannah, Georgia, is currently ranked as the No. 376 overall player and the No. 34 EDGE in the 2025 class according to On3. He is also ranked as the No. 44 prospect in the state of Georgia. Miami beat out ACC rivals North Carolina and Georgia Tech to secure his commitment, highlighting how competitive this recruiting cycle has become for Auburn and other schools alike.
