In 2021, the Atlanta Falcons announced their plans to induct both team owner Arthur Blank and former starting quarterback Matt Ryan into their Ring of Honor. This decision came after Ryan’s departure from the team following his 14th season as the starter. Although there was some tension between the player and the organization at the time of Ryan’s departure, this has since been repaired.

On Tuesday, Ryan expressed his gratitude on Twitter for being the Falcons quarterback for so many years and for being inducted into the Ring of Honor. The team surprised him with this news during a meeting, which was caught on video and shared on their Twitter account.

During his time in Atlanta, Ryan accumulated impressive stats, including 59,735 passing yards and 367 touchdowns. He also had a notable record of 120-102 and won the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year award in 2008, as well as a league MVP award in 2016. Additionally, Ryan made four Pro Bowls and earned one All-Pro team selection during his tenure with the Falcons.

The Falcons will officially induct Ryan into their Ring of Honor during their Week 5 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Fans and followers of the team took to Twitter to share their reactions to the news.
