Ashley Koto is an accomplished physical therapist and trainer at CHKD Sports Medicine in Chesapeake, where she works tirelessly with young gymnasts to keep their bodies in top shape for competitions. Next month, Koto will be traveling to France to work with the U.S. Women’s Gymnastics team as they prepare for the summer Olympics. This is an exciting opportunity for Koto, who has been working with U.S. Gymnastics since 2022, traveling to various competitions around the world.

The pressure is high when working with such talented athletes, but Koto remains unfazed by it all. She will be traveling with the team to Paris, where the Olympic athletes will train while the alternates, including Koto, will go to a facility just north of the city to continue their training. Although the alternates can no longer be subbed in once the competition starts, Koto remains excited for the experience and grateful for being given this opportunity to work with such a talented group of individuals.

While she won’t be at the Olympics herself, Koto is looking forward to watching the competitions on television and cheering on her colleagues from afar. Looking ahead, she hopes to continue working with U.S. Gymnastics and see what other opportunities come her way in this exciting field of sports medicine and training.
