Over a month since a cyberattack hit Ascension facilities across the United States, work to restore technology continues. On Monday, Ascension Via Christi in Wichita announced an update that is expected to improve efficiencies and shorten wait times for patients. The hospitals, including the main facilities of St. Francis and St. Joseph hospitals, and Ascension Medical Group clinics in Wichita have restored the primary technology used for electronic patient documentation in care settings.

This development will allow most hospital departments, physician offices, and clinics to use electronic documentation and charting, ultimately leading to improved efficiencies and reduced wait times for patients. The team at Ascension Via Christi is working diligently to restore other ancillary technology systems to full functionality.

Ascension recently announced that Electronic Health Record access has been restored in several markets, including Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, Maryland, Central Texas, and Oklahoma. The healthcare provider is aiming to have systems fully restored across its ministry by Friday, June 14. As work continues to combat the effects of the cyberattack, Ascension is prioritizing the protection of patient data and ensuring the efficient delivery of care.
